The spirit of giving!
This was Alexander Photos final day of volunteering, and our plan for the "next time" is already in the works. But I just had to give you a quick update.
Today, the 7 families that volunteered to pass out food bags and collect them back up, brought in over a half ton of food. That's quite impressive. And it
shows that in spite of all that is going on all around us, the spirit of giving is alive and well.
From people like Pastor Phyllis (and family) that give of themselves daily to help others, to
Barry Thompson who heads up the food program and goes out rain or shine or freezing weather (because hunger does not pause for the weather),
to those who volunteer to pass out flat empty bags and pick up full heavy ones, to those who are kind enough to fill those bags with food for pick up...all play a part in helping to make
a difference in the lives of so many who are struggling.
The motto of the Community Life Center is: "Not a handout, but a hand up!" I like that.
Attached with this post is my favorite picture of the day. This young man could not be more proud of the 263 lbs of food that his family collected today (translating to 505 meals). Just look at that face!

Volunteer commitment begins...
Today, we (Alexander Photos) attended the meeting for the food collection program at the Community Life Center.
Although the "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" is what spurred us to get involved initially, we'll continue throughout the year to volunteer in our community.
